Ryobi hit is out of the park with this cordless jigsaw. The quality of the materials and build are above expectations. The D-handle is very comfortable and easy to grip. The thumb controlled speed is easy to get used to (my old jigsaw had a trigger speed control). There is ample power to do anything I need whether it’s cutting through pine or hardwoods. The Bosch type blades fit perfectly and I noticed no drift or slippage during use. The metal base plate has a smooth plastic cover to protect your wood. It installs easily. Angle cut changes are tool free and the base locks in place firmly and accurately.Blade installation and removal is tool free and very easy to do. Twist the lock control and firmly insert the blade all the way in. There is no play and the blades align perfectly with the guide roller. Removal works just as easily with a twist of the lock control. The blade ejects nicely so you don’t have to touch a hot blade.Overall, I’m very pleased to add this to my Ryobi collection of tools. I strongly considered much more expensive barrel type jigsaws from Bosch and Festool. The Ryobi is hundreds of dollars less and it performs very well. Both the Bosch and Festool offer a higher quality of performance and some unique features like dust collection. While I nearly pulled the trigger for the Bosch, I’m glad I saved the $ and went with the Ryobi. It does what I need and with consistent performance. I’m sure the Bosch and Festool jigsaws are exceptional, but I couldn’t see the difference for the price over the cordless Ryobi.I strongly recommend the Ryobi cordless jigsaw for those with other Ryobi tools or those just starting to decide on which cordless power tool family to join.
