I will be writing my review based on the Collector's Edition of the game. The game itself has plenty of reviews out there, by both professional and amateur (buyer) reviewers, so I would recommend checking those out to see if the game is for you. A quick note, I personally really enjoy the game. It's technical issues are a minor annoyance for me...long load times are easily counteracted by checking my email or the internet on my phone, or taking my dogs out. The game, for me, has been just plain fun. I've found myself enjoying actually just running around exploring the landscape, which is something I don't do all too often in games. The combat mechanic is solid once you recognize that you aren't playing a typical third person shooter (Gears of War) and as such aren't being expected to "aim" quite as much as you do in other shooters. The platforming is superb...rarely am I missing any jumps because of anything other than my own timing. I will also say that I find the robot companions, for lack of a better word, adorable. I love having them follow me around and engage in combat with me. It's pretty awesome. I guess I've said about all that I need to say about the game...I really like it......anyway, on to the review of the Collector's Edition package.First off, this thing arrived in a MONSTER of a box. It was huge. Like, way more huge than I expected. I knew the statue was supposed to be large, but I had no idea that the box was going to be as big as it was. The shipping box was easily as large as the ones that RC trucks that I buy get shipped in...yes, that big. Inside of that box was another cardboard box, which is the external package for the product itself...basically the one that got drop shipped to Amazon. Once inside that, I was looking at the actual box for the Collector's Edition...The box is really well done. The art and design of it is top notch. It matches up with the overall look of all of the other art that has been release for the game. It's very large, though, and will prove to possibly be difficult to display. I have some plans for how I want to display it, though, so I think I'll be able to get that taken care of.Once open, you are immediately welcomed by the steelbook cover and the Corebot Alphabet Decoder. The steelbook cover is great. It's a definite improvement over the "standard" Xbox One game case, and it looks amazing. Again, the artwork on it is very well done. The Corebot Alphabet Decoder is something that is very interesting. It's well made and looks cool. I might try to detail it a bit more with some paint than it is, to make it look more worn and "realistic" than it is. It looks nice, but I feel that it could look a lot nicer with a bit of work. What's interesting about it is it's ability to actually let you decode the words in the game that the Corebots use. I learned this right off the bat by decoding the word "Save" from the symbols on the menu when the game is saving. Their is one Corebot in the game in particular that you actually get audio-logs from. Violet. When you get them, you don't understand what she's saying...and the text is in Corebot Alphabet. I'm guessing you could probably find someone online that has already decoded all of it, but I'm planning on using the decoder to figure out what Violet is actually telling me on my own, because I think it will be an interesting and fun side activity that's not actually IN the game. Cool. After taking a look at those, it was time to pull the main event out of the box. I was impressed with the quality of the Styrofoam. Another reviewer has posted a picture, so be sure to take a look...it's cool because it actually has recore embossed on the side of it, which is unique and interesting in the packaging department.Once the Styrofoam was out of the way, it was time to pull out the star of the show. The statue is magnificent. It's large, solidly made, and weighs a good amount. The detail and paintwork on it are unbelievable. I'm completely in love with the statue, and it will be an amazing addition to the shelf in my media room once I figure out where I want to put it.Overall, I'm really happy with the Collector's Edition. It's been a long time since I purchased a video game edition of this size or price, but I'm 100% glad that I did.
