In typical fashion I'll provide my personal, honest and detailed review based on my experience installing this toilet. If you like details, read on. If you get bored easily, skip this as there's plenty of one or two-sentence reviews.YES, it is more difficult to install than a standard toilet. The one-piece design adds some weight and the clean look everyone likes means the bolt holes are hidden, so it requires some patience and non-standard methods to install. Contrary to what others are saying, it doesn't REQUIRE two people to install, but it makes it easier. I did it myself, but if you're willing to pay two people to install it - go for it. Like other things in life, if you want and like the look of unique things, they come at a cost. In this case the cost is a bit more difficult installation, but for an experienced person it wasn't as bad as some make it out to be. Even though this is a comfort-height toilet (which makes the seat about 3 or so inches higher than a standard toilet), the low profile tank where the flusher buttons are is only 28" above the floor. A standard toilets tank is about 32" high. Some people complained (as usual) that the toilet seat blocked access to the flusher making you have to reach over it to flush (you can decide whether that's a deal-breaker for you). The next complaint I noticed was regarding the lower water level. Now, it seems there are still people replacing old toilets who were accustomed to the large and higher water footprint common in older toilets. I personally haven't seen those models for decades. All new toilets have a lower water level due to the mandated water limits, so I can only think that those complaints were the result of older toilets being replaced. The thing to remember is ALL toilets sold in the US cannot utilize more than 1.6 gallons per flush - period. The styles of different toilets can make water levels APPEAR differently, but the volume per flush is the same. Lastly, I now realize why some reviews mentioned the flushes didn't appear to be using enough water. Older, single-lever standard flushers only need to be depressed briefly and that action would hold open the valve even after being released. Like many two-button toilets, you need to HOLD the button a few seconds until all the water is released. That ensures the full amount of water for the button selected is released. I have a different brand, two-button toilet in our master bath and the buttons also need to be held. This is common across dual-flush toilets. Now I'll review some of the installation details for those that are interested. The one-piece design means it's a little heavier than a standard toilet which adds to the additional difficulty factor. The hardest part was making sure you lined up the bolt holes with the flange bolts, since you only get one shot at it once the wax ring is is in-place. By one shot for those that may not understand, is if you don't seat the toilet over the flange while lining up the bolts on the first try, the wax ring will be ruined and you'll need to replace it (more annoying than costly - they're about $5). I did it successfully by using some pieces of scrap wood flooring to suspend it above the bolts to make sure it's lined up before setting it.Once seated, the bolts are obviously hidden, so access to them is only from the rear and it requires a bit of contorting. I found it easier to reach the bolts from the opposite side of the toilet (to tighten the left bolt, reach around from the right side of the toilet and vice versa). They give you a plastic tool to tighten the bolts - Save it! (I kept mine in the hollow hidden space where the bolts are).I have one suggestion you should consider before installing the toilet: To fully capture the true clean look, I would make sure to relocate your supply valve to somewhere within the 14-1/2" footprint of the toilet, so it is out of view. I moved mine to the right side of the flange when looking at the toilet, about 6" from center of the flange. I positioned it so the valve is completely out of view. If you're installing this and are handy, this bit of extra effort makes for a clean, visually appealing installation. I know, I know.....it's only a toilet...but details are everything. To me it didn't make sense to install a smooth-sided sleak toilet with hidden bolts and have the supply valve and hose in plain sight. That's just how I am - if I do something, I do it right. Overall, my wife picked this toilet for our half-bath renovation. It's unique-looking, easy to clean and was priced the same as the other mainstream brands. I did some research and knew what to expect going in. It looks great and works fine so far. If you like the looks, just find the right person to install it or if you do it your self, plan and prepare a bit and it will go fine. NOTE: I purchased this item on Amazon for full price and have no affiliation to the seller. I try to write helpful, unbiased and insightful reviews because I also read reviews prior to making my own buying decisions. I notice many reviews lack helpful information, are not well written or give poor reviews based on not reading directions, inexperience or failing to read the product details prior to purchasing. Writing valuable reviews helps pay it forward.
