Description

This book provides a concise and pragmatic introduction to transfer pricing. Approaching the subject from an economic and business perspective, it familiarizes the reader with the basic concepts without getting sidetracked by tax law. In turn, the book draws on case studies to demonstrate the identification and application of appropriate transfer pricing methods for the most common intercompany transactions. The intuitive step-by-step guidance, together with integrated Excel-based tools, will equip the reader to ensure compliance with the arm’s length principle and thus to minimize tax risk. Based on the post-BEPS OECD Guidelines, the book’s content is applicable to a global context.

Oliver Treidler has his own transfer pricing firm in Berlin. Over the years, he's trained his own staff on transfer pricing theory and practices and taught TP classes at various universities. This book provides a practical "on the ground" introduction to transfer pricing. The book is ideal for "new hires" at Big Four and other consulting firms on how to "walk the walk" in doing transfer pricing in a consulting firm or industry. I recommend the book highly - and as someone who has been working in the transfer pricing area since the 1970s I've read if not ALL then ALMOST ALL the books on transfer pricing. I recommend my own transfer pricing books too, of course, but when someone asks me "What book do you recommend to a new person in transfer pricing?" this is the book I recommend.[From a conflict of interest perspective, I note that I wrote the Foreword to this book, and that Oliver and I have written together (in Bloomberg Tax) a paper on the OECD's Pillar One proposals for taxing the digital economy.]Lorraine EdenProfessor Emerita of Management and Research Professor of LawTexas A&M University
