The desk is far heavier and sturdier than I expected. Also, the spindles between the sections on the fixed portion are wood, not plastic. I was concerned that they looked cheap in some of the photos, but in person this desk is beautiful. Great for a compact space. My only complaint is that the directions suck, and the labeling of the hardware leaves something to be desired. I assemble furniture regularly, and if not for that experience, I think I would have been lost with this. But extremely pleased with the final result, especially for the price.
