This is an absolute beast of a knife. It's made of 6.5mm thick L6 steel and weighs about 2 lbs. It sharpened up so easily I thought the steel might be soft, but not to worry. I chopped through a variety of thick pieces of wood and it didn't even get a ding and was still razor sharp. My best chopper had been an 18" HI Ang Khola Kukri, and it's no slouch, but I think this might be better. I have a Svord Peasant knife and Kiwi Machete and am now a huge fan of Svord's steel and heat treatment. This is a working knife and not a ninja cool Rambo style wall hanger but, due to its strength and quality, I find it very beautiful, especially sitting in its high quality thick black leather sheath. The scales are, I believe, made of Wenge, a dense, hard African wood secured by brass rivets to the visible, full thickness, full length tang. This is my second knife from Knife Country USA and their service has been excellent and timely and I won't hesitate buying from them again.
