I was looking for more of an uplight. I will say that the top of this unit had one piece that we just took the 3 screws out and removed so that I could have a little more uplight (vs more down) on our wall. It looks great and coordinated with a drum light that we have in the center of our living room that we got from big box store. Requires professional installation wired into wall fyi. My husband knew how to do this. Ran line and put box in for this to mount in as seen in 2nd pic. Takes standard size bulb (not included).
