So many of the Lego Ideas sets are great. I think of them as Lego for adults. This particular set has so much going for it. It's a fun build. The mechanism by which the labyrinth works is fairly simple and elegant. Very clever. Once you get the set built, the marble maze is pretty fun to play. I surprised myself with how long it kept me occupied. And I'm still on the first template. One of the most intriguing aspects of this set is its adaptability. You can change up the labyrinth however you choose. And while the element of nostalgia for the original wooden labyrinth toy contributes greatly to this set's appeal, this ability to change the maze makes this version far superior to the original. My only complaint would be the little plastic balls that come with the set. Upon close inspection, they are orange Lego soccer balls. They are not designed to be perfectly round. As such, the balls sometimes stall out on the maze. I substituted a regular glass marble and resolved that particular issue.
