I found a set of Wusthof knives in Homegoods recently. The price was a steel (ha ha) and I was so overwhelmed by excitement that I went out looking for more. They knew what they were doing when they left empty slots in the included knife block.As it turns out, I have been looking for a nice carving fork for a while, and I found this set for a decent price. I've seen the knife alone selling for more than this, so after some debate, I went for it.I finally got to use the set tonight on some ribeye and let me tell you... like butter.This knife glides right through whatever it's cutting. I hardly had to put any pressure on it to get the cut. All I did was rest it on the steak and pull back.The fork feels very sturdy and the knife feels well balanced and light, nimble even.The hollow ground edge not only removes some of the heft but discourages whatever it is your cutting form sticking to the blade.I may make a nice box for the set because the box that it shipped in is definitely nothing special. It's just a standard plastic and cardboard container that got jostled in shipping so that the knives didn't have to.I'm looking forward to trying it out on a chicken or something though. I intend to have this for many years and many more steaks.
